Endorsements

I am pleased to add my endorsement of Patricia Knowles new book, Holiness – The Key To revival. This book is biblically based, doctrinally sound, and passionately written. Her personal observations and the inclusion of proven testimonies strongly support her major premise that, the “highway of holiness” is the way to revival for today’s church.I highly recommend this book to ministers and laypersons alike. Its rich content, informational charts and diagrams, and Biblical foundation will serve as wonderful guides to anyone who is sincerely interested in seeing the church experience revival today. The church needs revival and the only path is for God’s people to live the sanctified life.

General Overseer of the Church of God (2004-2008)

The need for Pentecostal renewal and revival in our churches has never been more urgent than it is today. David and Patricia Knowles have done an excellent job in pressing home this fact, and it is our prayer that the Holy Spirit will use this book to create in the hearts of His people the type of holiness that is acceptable to God.

In a fresh, engaging and anointed manner, Patricia Knowles presents the neglected doctrine of holiness-sanctification as the key to the true, costly and deep renewal of the church. This is an unusual, thoroughly understandable and inspiring work. It deserves to be read by all who long for God, the revival of the church and the discipling of billions of our neighbours who need to know Christ and be prepared for His coming again.

It is indeed a blessing to endorse this book by David and Patricia Knowles, ‘Holiness the Key to Revival’. Holiness reflects the nature of the Deity. This couple have once more brought this important subject to the attention of the church at a time when relativism has deeply impacted our perception in this truth.   I pray that their effort will elevate our awareness on a path to revival for our nation.

Patricia Knowles presents an impassioned cry for a return to the biblical experience of sanctification and to the living of a life of separation and purity: in other words, a life of holiness. Her zeal for this call to holiness shows in every chapter of her book, HOLINESS, THE KEY TO REVIVAL. I commend her for her zeal and love for this neglected teaching.

This book is devotional in nature, but it is more than that.  It is a valuable resource that presents Scripture, doctrine and the testimony of many believers who have followed this way of life in the Holy Spirit and can testify to the effectiveness of the message.

The passion of the book is to demonstrate that the experience of personal sanctification is provided in Christ’s death and resurrection, commanded and promised in Scripture and is a very real experience in the record of Scriptures and believers in Jesus Christ in all ages of the Christian church.

This book is a welcome contribution to holiness Pentecostal literature.  It is highly readable.  It lends itself easily to teaching.  It provides graphics that are adaptable to overhead projection and power point presentation.

I am pleased to commend this book to the attention and use by laity, pastors, teachers, evangelists and other ministers of the Word.

I am pleased to endorse this book one of the most needful subjects in the Church today – Holiness!  It’s seems these days that people care less and less about what Christianity means and can mean to the world, and appears to find its roots in the simple statement, Christians do not practice what they preach.  The sad truth of the matter is that the statement, for far too many Christians is true!  Our words do not match our actions; our convictions do not match our passions; our experience does not match our believing.   What then is the solution?  Holiness.

In this book by David and Patricia Knowles, that often mystical and elusive concept of Biblical Holiness is simply explained and illustrated. Accompanied with numerous quotes from great leaders of the Christian Faith, such as John Wesley, Charles Finney and Samuel Logan Brengle about what Holiness is and how it manifests itself in the life of the Believer, this book will be invaluable to those who are truly seeking to know the Father’s heart and to live lives that are genuine and in tune with the will of God.

I’m excited that our paths have crossed and we intend to promote this book.  We find it to be doctrinally sound and appropriate for our Movement.  Thank you David and Tisha for letting God use you to bless us through this book.

Reader’s Comments

“It (the book) is so clear, it is so true, right, noble, totally crucially relevant, and other words I cannot find! Wonderful, inspiring, and, potentially life changing! I am not making this up – you must write the second book!”

My wife and I have known Patricia Knowles for over 34 years, soon after her conversion to Christ. From the very beginning she was eager to understand the Holy Scriptures, that she might know God more personally and in reality.

While we were working for many years in Asia and in the Middle East, Patricia’s letters to us were inspiring, encouraging us in missionary activity, and always with spiritual questions as to how we understood what the scriptures were saying on this or that. Her hunger was for God Himself.  She was always exuberant and reverent, extrovert to convert. Her light was never hidden and her concern was for people who knew not the Lord Jesus personally.  She herself desired above everything else not only to experience the filling, baptism with the Holy Spirit of God, but to be totally  sanctified, and to know Him, ‘whom to know is life in fullness’.  Her book will undoubtedly provoke reaction, since we hear little teaching today on the Holiness of God.  To live holy lives makes us uncomfortable as we are challenged ‘to be holy as He is Holy’ and to seek sanctification and live as He would have us live.

They currently – though ‘retired’ – are active and still fruitful in the Reading area.

Key Quotes

“I was satisfied that the doctrine of Entire Sanctification in this life, in the sense that it was the privilege of Christians to live without sin, was a doctrine taught in the Bible“
CHARLES FINNEY

“There will be no great Revival until the people of God are deeply convicted of their need of holiness”
MAJOR ALLISTAIRE SMITH (Salvation Army)

“A God-sent Revival must ever be related to holiness”
Rev DUNCAN CAMPBELL

“Holiness has been the message of saints of God down the centuries, and was the foundation of the glorious Revivals of Christianity under the original Quakers, Methodists and the Salvation Army and wherever it is truly known and experienced, it is the bringer-in of Revival today .”
PAGET WILKES

“That such widespread misunderstanding should exist about the word (sanctification) and its meaning, is a spiritual disaster .If there is one New Testament term more than another which calls for rescue it is that precious, expressive word, Sanctification. “
SIDLOW BAXTER

“Believers must be brought into conviction of the shame and evil of the carnal state. God brings believers into, what may be called ,a second conviction — conviction of a need of deliverance from the power of sin.”
Rev ANDREW MURRAY

"True holiness is a Revival of Holiness. Personal holiness is more desirable than happiness, he (Duncan Campbell) taught, and it is not in heaven alone that God wants our saintliness - it is here and now; holiness is not just a doctrine to be taught, it is a way of life - it is the life of Jesus."
Rev DUNCAN CAMPBELL

"When the acts of sin are forgiven through the sacrifice of Jesus Christ on Calvary, that nature of sin still remains in the heart, and so many have never heard that there is deliverance from it. That is why I specially believe in Holiness Meetings."
CHARLES STALKER (1920)

" Being wholly sanctified is the completion of grace done in the heart at conversion and is generally a second, definite experience. This second work of grace is two-fold; first a cleansing of the heart from indwelling sin, and secondly an incoming of the Holy Ghost making the Lord Jesus all in all to the believer."
I R GOVAN STEWART writing about PAGET WILKES

"Sanctification is cleansing to make holy ...... The Baptism with the Holy Spirit is a gift of power upon the sanctified life."
WILLIAM SEYMOUR (1906)

".... it is the spiritual work of Jesus Christ to purify His people by His own blood to rid them of this deep-lying disease. That is why He is called the Great Physician. He is able to heal us of this plague of impurity and iniquity, redeeming us from the consequences of our sins and purifying us from the presence of our sins."
A.W. TOZER

"When we have a clear knowledge of justification and sanctification, then we can be a recipient of the Baptism in the Holy Spirit." WILLIAM SEYMOUR

"God Who delivers us from the guilt of sin through faith in Jesus Christ, is able to deliver the believer from the power of sin as well."
EDWIN ORR

"The Bible tells us that holiness is perfect deliverance from sin - The blood of Jesus Christ His son cleanses us from all sin - 1John 1:7. Thus, holiness is a state in which there is no longer malice, blasphemy, hypocracy, envy, love for ease, selfish desires for good opinions of men, shame of the cross, worldliness, deceipt, contention, covetousness, nor any evil desire or tendency in the heart. It is a state in which there is no longer any doubt or fear, a state in which God is loved and trusted with a perfect heart. It is a state of heart and life which consists in being and doing, ALL thr e time, just what God wants us to do."
Commissioner SAMUEL LOGAN BRENGLE. (Salvation Army)
